Madison, WI – Six teenagers were arrested Tuesday in connection with a violent robbery at East High School, where a student was reportedly attacked and robbed by a group of peers.
According to the Madison Police Department (MPD), the victim, a student at the school, told staff members that a group of teens stole money from him. When the student alerted a school employee, the suspects allegedly escalated the situation by physically attacking him. The victim was later treated at a local hospital for his injuries.
In response to the incident, police arrested five suspects, ranging in age from 14 to 17. The suspects, two 15-year-olds, two 16-year-olds, and a 14-year-old, were charged with substantial battery, strong-armed robbery, and disorderly conduct. A 17-year-old was also taken into custody and faces additional charges of physical abuse to a child and bail jumping.
MPD confirmed that they are continuing to investigate the case as more details emerge.
This incident has left the local community shaken, as violence among students continues to raise concerns in schools across the nation. The investigation is ongoing, and authorities are urging anyone with information to come forward.
