Southern California Man Arrested for Using Social Media to Target Robbery Victims

Authorities in Riverside County have arrested a 20-year-old Moreno Valley resident, Adrian Henning, for allegedly using social media to target individuals for armed robbery. According to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department (RCSD), Henning orchestrated multiple robberies on January 12, 2025, by luring victims through a popular social media sales app.

The first reported incident occurred around 5 p.m. in Perris, California, on the 1200 block of Mount Shasta Street. Henning reportedly agreed to meet a victim for a property exchange. However, when the two met, Henning brandished a firearm, stole the victim’s property, and fled the scene before deputies arrived.

Later that day, Henning allegedly employed similar tactics in Mead Valley, an unincorporated area, where he attempted another armed robbery before fleeing.

Following an investigation by RCSD’s Special Enforcement Team, Henning was located in Moreno Valley. He was arrested and booked into the Cois Byrd Detention Center on charges including robbery, assault with a firearm, assault with a semi-automatic firearm, and committing a felony while out on bail.

Authorities believe Henning may have committed additional crimes using the same method and are encouraging anyone with information to come forward.

The RCSD has emphasized the importance of exercising caution during online transactions. Tips include meeting in public places, bringing a companion, and avoiding secluded areas.

As the investigation into Henning’s activities continues, law enforcement is urging potential victims or witnesses to contact Deputy McMorris at 951-776-1099 or the RCSD Perris Station at 951-210-1000.

This case highlights the risks of online meetups and underscores the need for vigilance when engaging in peer-to-peer transactions facilitated by social media or sales platforms.
