Horrific Act: Maryland Man Charged with Killing Girlfriend, Concealing Body in Home

The body of 29-year-old Alexis Schuler, who had been reported missing from Washington, D.C., was found hidden in a makeshift tomb in her boyfriend’s home. Authorities discovered her remains on January 19 during a search of Devontae Gray’s house in Prince George’s County, Maryland.

Schuler had been missing for a week, and a frantic search led the Prince George’s County Police Department and the Metropolitan Police Department to execute a search warrant at Gray’s residence on Larchmont Avenue. Investigators uncovered her body hidden behind a wall that Gray had reportedly built to conceal her remains.

According to police, Gray admitted to killing Schuler after an argument. He allegedly shot her, placed her body in a plastic storage bin, and then used bricks, cement, and drywall to seal it behind a wall under the stairs. Security camera footage reportedly showed Gray entering his home several times with construction materials.

Court documents revealed that after removing the drywall, officers found a makeshift tomb containing a large plastic bin. The bin was wrapped in plastic and surrounded by concrete. After pouring concrete, Gray allegedly placed faux brick on top of the drywall to hide the tomb further. Members of the fire department assisted police in demolishing the wall and removing the bin.

Inside the bin, officers saw what appeared to be a human foot, which they believed belonged to Schuler. Her body had been buried with soil and hay. Following instructions from the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner, the bin was removed without disturbing its contents for further examination.

Gray was arrested at the scene and later confessed to the murder, according to police. The investigation revealed that Schuler, a devoted mother of three, had lost her life in a senseless act of violence.

Authorities have not yet announced the charges Gray will face. This tragedy has left Schuler’s family and community devastated, as they remember her as a loving mother and individual who did not deserve such a cruel fate.
