Shooting in Harlowe Leaves One Teen Injured, Another Detained

A teenager has been airlifted to a trauma center following a shooting incident in Craven County, N.C. The Craven County Sheriff’s Office responded to the shooting, which occurred around 3:00 p.m. near the intersection of Highway 101 and Blades Road in the Harlowe area. Deputies found a 17-year-old boy who had been shot multiple times.

The victim, who was conscious at the scene, was promptly airlifted to ECU Health Medical Center in Greenville for treatment. While authorities have not provided specific details about the severity of his injuries, the fact that he remained conscious following the incident suggests that he was able to receive timely medical attention.

In the aftermath of the shooting, deputies took a 16-year-old boy into custody in connection with the incident. The authorities have not disclosed whether the two teenagers knew each other or if there were any prior incidents that led to the shooting. Investigators are still piecing together the details of the event, but it is clear that this is an active investigation.

At this stage, no additional information has been provided about the circumstances surrounding the shooting, and the Craven County Sheriff’s Office has not released further comments regarding a potential motive or whether charges have been formally filed against the 16-year-old suspect.

Local residents and those familiar with the area have expressed concern over the violence, as incidents like this are rare in the otherwise quiet Harlowe community. As the investigation continues, the Craven County Sheriff’s Office is expected to release further updates.

This incident underscores the growing concern over gun violence, particularly involving minors. Law enforcement officials are urging anyone with information about the shooting to come forward. In the meantime, the community remains on edge as authorities work to uncover the full details surrounding the shooting and ensure justice is served.

The situation highlights the urgency of addressing youth violence and the need for intervention to prevent similar incidents in the future.
