In Rocky Mount, N.C., a juvenile boy is in critical condition after being shot by his girlfriend during a domestic dispute. The Rocky Mount Police Department responded to a call about a shooting at the 900 block of Strawbush Road around 4:15 a.m. on Thursday. Upon arrival, officers found the boy suffering from a gunshot wound. He was immediately transported to ECU Health in Greenville, where he remains in critical condition.
According to police, the incident occurred inside a residence where the boy and his girlfriend, both minors, were engaged in an argument. The confrontation escalated, leading the girl to shoot her boyfriend. Following the shooting, she remained at the scene until law enforcement arrived and took her into custody.
The juvenile suspect has been charged with multiple offenses, including assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury with intent to kill, possession of a handgun by a minor, and possession of a stolen handgun. She has been placed in a juvenile detention facility pending further legal proceedings.
Authorities also revealed that the firearm used in the shooting had been reported stolen in December 2024 to the Rocky Mount Police Department. Investigators are working to determine how the girl obtained the weapon and whether additional charges or suspects are involved in the case.
The investigation remains ongoing as police gather more details about the circumstances leading to the shooting.
