Armed Robber Fires Gunshot in Gwinnett Check-Cashing Business Heist, Police Searching for Suspect

Gwinnett County, GA – Authorities are on the hunt for an armed suspect who attempted to rob a check-cashing business in Duluth, firing a gunshot before fleeing the scene. The shocking incident occurred on January 14 at 9:15 a.m. at Ace Cash Express on 3675 Satellite Blvd.

According to police reports, a woman had just entered the business when a masked man, dressed in a white jacket, began banging on the lobby door. Moments later, he pulled out a firearm and demanded entry. Acting swiftly, the victim pressed the panic button to alert law enforcement.

The suspect then fired a shot, shattering the glass door before storming inside. Once inside, he ordered the victim to open the safe. When she told him she couldn’t, he quickly fled on foot.

Just two days later, on January 16, a suspect matching the same description attempted to rob another check-cashing business in Smyrna, leading investigators to believe the same individual is behind both crimes.

Police have urged anyone with information to come forward. Gwinnett County Police Department detectives can be reached at 770-513-5300. Those wishing to remain anonymous can contact Crime Stoppers at 404-577-TIPS (8477) or visit www.stopcrimeATL.com.

The investigation is ongoing as authorities work to identify and capture the suspect before he strikes again.
