MAPLE GROVE, Minn. – Authorities are seeking the public’s help in locating a man accused of tackling a female jogger on the Medicine Lake Regional Trail early Thursday morning.

The incident occurred around 6 a.m. near the trail’s underpass beneath Interstate 94, close to Rice Lake. Police say the suspect approached the jogger from behind, grabbed her, and tackled her to the ground. The jogger fought back, managed to escape, and immediately called 911. She was treated for minor injuries at a nearby hospital.

The suspect fled east along the trail, and despite an extensive search, he remains at large.

Police describe the suspect as a man in his 30s, standing between 5’7″ and 5’10” tall, wearing a black hat, black or gray coat, hooded sweatshirt, black pants, and shiny black gloves.

Residents in the surrounding neighborhoods are urged to check security or doorbell camera footage from 5 a.m. to 8 a.m. on Thursday for any suspicious activity.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Detective Kate Damm at 763-494-6245 or call 911. The investigation is being supported by the Three Rivers Park District Police and the Hennepin County Sheriff’s Office.
