A woman was arrested on Sunday for allegedly fleeing the scene of a deadly two-car crash in Gardena near Rowley Park, authorities reported.
The incident occurred around 7:40 a.m. at the intersection of Van Ness Avenue and 135th Street. When officers arrived, they found two vehicles had collided, with one driver unresponsive inside their car. Paramedics pronounced the driver dead at the scene. The victim’s identity has not yet been released.
Authorities soon identified the second driver involved in the crash as 29-year-old Marian James, a Los Angeles resident. James had fled the scene before police arrived. After an investigation, she was located and arrested outside her home later that day.
According to investigators, James was driving southbound on Van Ness Avenue when she ran a red light, colliding with the eastbound vehicle. James was subsequently booked at the Gardena Police Department.
