Kenosha, Wis. – A shocking crime has shaken the Kenosha community after a man and his dog were found stabbed to death inside a home on Monday, Feb. 3. Police have arrested 41-year-old Justin Tercek in connection with what authorities are calling a suspicious death investigation.
Disturbing Discovery
According to the Kenosha Police Department (KPD), officers initially responded to a call around 11:40 a.m. from a homeowner reporting a possible break-in. The caller stated that the back door had been forced open. Upon checking the residence near 18th and 85th, officers found no one inside and left the scene.
However, at approximately 2:30 p.m., KPD officers returned to the same home following another burglary complaint. This time, the caller reported seeing blood outside the back door. Upon entering the residence, officers made a horrifying discovery—a 52-year-old man was found in the basement with apparent stab wounds. Tragically, a dog was also located with similar injuries and succumbed to its wounds shortly after officers arrived.
Suspect Arrested
Recognizing the severity of the situation, authorities called in SWAT team members to clear the house and ensure no one else was inside. Detectives quickly launched a homicide investigation and identified Justin Tercek as a person of interest.
At approximately 6:34 p.m., Tercek was spotted in an alley near 50th and 22nd. Officers moved in swiftly, arresting him without further incident.
Ongoing Investigation
