Tragic Shooting Claims North Las Vegas Officer’s Life, Neighbors Reflect on Heartbreaking Loss

The North Las Vegas neighborhood where Officer Jason Roscow was fatally shot is still reeling from the tragic incident. The day after the shooting, the normally quiet community was left in a somber silence, with residents processing the harrowing events that unfolded in their own backyards.

Minister Roy Brown, who has lived in the neighborhood for over 20 years, recounted hearing the gunfire just as he was about to step outside his home. “Just as I went to touch the doorknob, that’s when I heard all the pow pow pow pow pow,” Brown recalled. The sound of gunshots was unsettling in the typically peaceful area, noted resident Craig Gomez, who described the neighborhood as “safe” and “a family.”

In the aftermath, many residents, including Brown, replayed the tragic event, some even capturing videos of the scene as officers and paramedics worked to save Roscow’s life. Brown, moved by the experience, reflected on the impact of such violence. “For something like that to happen, everybody’s wondering, is it one of us?” he said, emphasizing the tight-knit nature of their community.

Officer Roscow tragically passed away at UMC, and a motorcade escorted his body to the Clark County coroner’s office. Brown expressed that the memory of the fallen officer will forever stay with him. Despite the grief, Brown is determined to turn the painful experience into a teaching moment for his ministry, hoping to remind others of the preciousness of life.

This tragic loss has left a profound impact on the neighborhood, forever marking a dark chapter in its history.
