[ad_1]

HENDRICKS COUNTY, Ind. – After weeks on the run, 19-year-old Dekovan Smith has been arrested and booked into the Hendricks County Jail on a murder charge Thursday night.

Authorities had been searching for Smith since December 18, 2024, when he was accused of fatally shooting 22-year-old Jarell Spires on Fairmount Ct. in Avon.

The Hendricks County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) had issued a public plea for information on Smith’s whereabouts, urging anyone with knowledge of his location to come forward. Crime Stoppers also offered an anonymous tip line to assist in the search.

While details of his capture remain undisclosed, Smith is now in custody, facing severe legal consequences. The community had been on high alert since the incident, with law enforcement actively tracking leads to bring him in.

Authorities have not yet released details regarding a potential motive or additional suspects in the case. However, the arrest marks a significant development in the investigation.

This remains a developing story, and further updates will be provided as new information emerges.
