Maui Man Indicted for Murder After Woman’s Shocking Death

[ad_1]

In a tragic turn of events, a Maui grand jury has indicted 74-year-old Francisco Labuanan on a second-degree murder charge following the heartbreaking death of Cynthia Moore, 68, of Haiku.

According to the news, authorities were first alerted to the case on January 25 when Labuanan himself called 911, claiming he found Moore lying on the ground outside their home off Hana Highway. He reportedly told dispatchers he believed she had fallen.

However, when officers arrived at the scene, they discovered troubling evidence that suggested otherwise. Sources reveal that Moore had visible injuries on her face, along with bruises on her neck and hands—signs that raised immediate suspicions. Labuanan was arrested that day for murder but was later released as the investigation continued.

The case took a shocking turn this week when the Maui Police Department re-arrested Labuanan on Wednesday, formally charging him with murder. Just two days later, a grand jury delivered an indictment, sealing his fate behind bars with no bail.

Adding another chilling layer to the tragedy, records indicate that Labuanan has a history of domestic violence. In 1996, he was convicted of abusing a family or household member, serving only two days in jail and one year of probation. Now, nearly three decades later, he faces a far more severe accusation—one that has left Moore’s family devastated.

Moore’s grieving son has spoken out, expressing his family’s deep sorrow and calling for increased awareness about domestic violence. Meanwhile, the Maui Police Department extended heartfelt condolences to her loved ones, emphasizing that the investigation is ongoing.

This case serves as a tragic reminder of the silent struggles some victims endure behind closed doors. As the legal process unfolds, the community waits for justice in this heartbreaking tragedy. Labuanan is set to make his first court appearance next week.
