Authorities have arrested a third suspect in connection with the fatal shootings of a mother and her 4-year-old daughter on the Florida Turnpike in Hollywood. The Broward Sheriff’s Office confirmed that 20-year-old Kamarri Sanders was taken into custody in Miami Gardens on Friday. He now faces a first-degree murder charge alongside two other suspects, 28-year-old Antoine Harris and 29-year-old Jaquan Thomas.
During Sanders’ court appearance on Saturday, a judge denied him bond, keeping him in custody as the case moves forward. The three men are accused of carrying out the deadly shooting that took place on June 7, 2024, near Mile Marker 49, south of Hollywood Boulevard.
Investigators reported that the victims, 34-year-old Beatrice Saintvil and her daughter, Janelle Souffrant, were traveling northbound on the Florida Turnpike when their vehicle was targeted by gunfire. The tragic incident resulted in immediate fatal injuries to young Janelle. Paramedics from Hollywood Fire Rescue arrived at the scene and pronounced her dead inside the vehicle. Her mother, Beatrice Saintvil, was critically wounded and transported to a nearby hospital, where she later died from her injuries.
Authorities have not yet released a potential motive behind the shooting or how the suspects may have been connected to the victims. Law enforcement continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding the attack, working to determine whether it was a targeted act or the result of another factor.
