Breaking: Massive Fire Explodes in Greenville—Residents Ordered to Flee!

GREENVILLE, SC – Residents in Greenville and Pickens counties are being ordered to evacuate immediately as a rapidly spreading wildfire threatens homes, roads, and local communities. The South Carolina Forestry Commission issued the mandatory evacuation order on Tuesday, March 25, as the Table Rock Fire intensified overnight, growing to more than 1,100 acres with no containment.

Fire crews are struggling against strong winds and dry conditions, which have made efforts to contain the blaze extremely difficult. Officials warn that the fire could spread further, putting more areas at risk.

Evacuation Orders in Effect

Authorities have ordered evacuations for residents living north of Highway 11 in Pickens County, as well as multiple roads and communities in Greenville County. These areas are now considered high-risk zones, and residents must leave immediately to ensure their safety.

The affected roads include:

  • Table Rock Road

  • Caesars Head Highway

  • Burgess Road

  • Lakemont Road

  • River Rock Court

  • Matthews Creek Lane

  • Saluda Hill Church Road

  • Geer Highway

Emergency officials warn that fire conditions could worsen rapidly, and more areas may be added to the evacuation zone.

Emergency Shelter Open for Evacuees

A temporary shelter has been set up at Marietta First Baptist Church (2936 Geer Highway, Marietta, SC 29661) to provide emergency assistance for evacuees. Residents are encouraged to head there if they need food, water, or a place to stay.

What’s Fueling the Fire?

The Table Rock Fire ignited on Friday, March 21, and has been steadily growing due to low humidity, high winds, and dry vegetation. Firefighters have been using air tankers and ground crews to contain the flames, but efforts have been hampered by shifting winds that continue to spread the fire.

Officials say that the fire remains at 0% containment, meaning it is still actively spreading and not under control.

How Residents Can Stay Safe

  • Leave immediately: If you are in an evacuation zone, do not delay—evacuate now.

  • Stay Alert for Updates: Monitor local news and emergency alerts for real-time updates.

  • Prepare for Extended Displacement: The fire is unpredictable, and residents should prepare to be away from home for several days.

  • Avoid Fire Zones: Do not attempt to return to evacuation areas until officials declare them safe.

What’s Next?

Fire officials are working tirelessly to slow the fire’s spread, but wind conditions remain a major concern. If the fire jumps containment lines, additional evacuations could be ordered at any time.

Authorities urge all residents to take this threat seriously and to follow all evacuation orders immediately. More updates will be provided as the situation develops.
