Woman Dies After Being Ejected from Vehicle in Iowa County Crash

A tragic accident in rural Iowa County claimed the life of a woman early Friday morning. The Iowa County Sheriff’s Office reported that 23-year-old Jessica Patch, of South English, lost control of her vehicle on an icy curve, leading to a fatal crash.

The incident occurred around 8:30 a.m. on 325th Street (Highway F67), near TT Avenue. Patch was driving eastbound when she failed to navigate the slippery curve. Her vehicle veered off the road, entered the ditch, and overturned. Unfortunately, Patch was ejected from the vehicle due to not wearing a seatbelt.

Emergency responders were called to the scene, but despite efforts to save her, Patch was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities remind drivers to be cautious and reduce speeds, especially during icy conditions. This tragedy highlights the importance of seatbelt use, particularly in adverse weather situations.

The Iowa County Sheriff’s Office is urging motorists to exercise caution during winter driving and to ensure they are wearing seatbelts at all times. An investigation into the crash is ongoing.
