Employee Charged in Columbus Liquor Store Stabbing Death


Columbus police have made an arrest in connection with a deadly stabbing incident that occurred Monday night at a liquor store. James Applewhite, 24, an employee at Kick N Chicken located at 5120 Warm Springs Rd., is charged with murder, aggravated assault, and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime in the death of 28-year-old Quandarius Reynolds.

Authorities responded to a call at the business shortly before 7:30 p.m. Monday after reports of a stabbing. Police reported that Applewhite and Reynolds had engaged in a verbal argument inside the store, which quickly escalated into a physical altercation.

During the confrontation, Applewhite allegedly grabbed a knife and stabbed Reynolds. Reynolds fled the scene but was later found suffering from a stab wound at a nearby business. He was taken to Piedmont Columbus Regional, where he later died from his injuries.

Investigators are now seeking additional information from witnesses who were inside the store during the incident. Anyone with relevant details is urged to contact Columbus police at 706-225-4105 or call 911.
