A shocking high-speed chase in Linn County resulted in the arrest of a Cedar Rapids man early Tuesday morning.
John Joseph Jackson, 25, is facing charges of 1st Degree Harassment, Eluding, Reckless Driving, and other driving infractions after leading deputies on a dangerous pursuit. The Linn County Sheriff’s Office reported that deputies responded to a harassment complaint on N Glen Drive in Covington, where Jackson, armed with a firearm, made threats to harm a family.
Just after 9:30 p.m., deputies spotted Jackson’s vehicle and attempted to pull him over at Stoney Point Road and E Avenue NW. Instead of stopping, Jackson sped off, reaching over 100 MPH, and continued his reckless driving north on Stoney Point, east on Highway 100, and south on I-380 before exiting onto Highway 100 again.
The chase ended at 1:30 a.m. when authorities located Jackson at his residence and arrested him without incident. Thankfully, no injuries or property damage occurred during the pursuit.
