Kinston Man Arrested for Indecent Liberties with a Child
KINSTON, N.C. (WITN) – Authorities have arrested a Kinston man on charges of taking indecent liberties with a child, following an investigation that began earlier this year.
The Kinston Police Department reported receiving a complaint regarding indecent liberties with a child on April 25th. Officers promptly launched an investigation into the allegations. After gathering evidence and completing their investigation, the police presented the case to a grand jury for consideration.
The grand jury subsequently indicted Randall Atkins, a 36-year-old resident of Kinston, on charges related to indecent liberties with a child. Following the indictment, law enforcement agencies worked to locate Atkins.
On Friday, Atkins was taken into custody by deputies from the Lenoir County Sheriff’s Office. He was formally charged and remains behind bars as the legal process continues. Authorities have not disclosed specific details about the nature of the allegations, citing the sensitive nature of cases involving minors.
This arrest highlights the continued efforts of law enforcement in Eastern Carolina to respond to reports of crimes against children and pursue justice for victims. The Kinston Police Department encourages anyone with information regarding similar incidents to come forward and assist in the investigation.
The case serves as a reminder of the importance of vigilance and community support in addressing crimes involving vulnerable individuals. Atkins is expected to face further legal proceedings as the case progresses.
