Chicago Concealed Carry Holder Wounds Gunman in South Shore Neighborhood

A concealed carry license holder shot a gunman during a confrontation Monday night in Chicago’s South Shore neighborhood, authorities confirmed.

Around 9 p.m., a 30-year-old CCL holder was standing outside in the 7200 block of South South Drive when he became involved in an argument with someone inside a vehicle. Police said the 30-year-old noticed the person in the car was holding a handgun. Fearing for his safety, he drew his own weapon and fired, striking the suspect once in the chest.

The gunman, now in custody, later drove himself to Jackson Park Hospital, where he was treated and listed in fair condition. Officers later responded to the hospital, placed the suspect into custody, and recovered a weapon at the scene. Police said charges against the suspect are pending as detectives from Area One continue their investigation.

This incident highlights the ongoing tension in some parts of Chicago and the growing role concealed carry holders play in ensuring personal safety.
