TRAGIC: Five Hospitalized After Rollover Crash in Brownsville, Vehicle Linked to Robbery Investigation

A tragic rollover crash in Northwest Miami-Dade’s Brownsville neighborhood left five people hospitalized Thursday night. Authorities revealed the vehicle involved is tied to a reported robbery, adding a criminal twist to the devastating incident.

Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office and Miami-Dade Fire Rescue responded to the crash near the 4900 block of Northwest 23rd Avenue, just after 8 p.m. Witnesses described a chaotic scene, with 7News cameras capturing an overturned SUV, shattered car parts littering the street, and another vehicle damaged on a nearby grassy area, wedged between a tree and a fence.

According to City of Miami Police, the department’s Tactical Robbery Unit had been tracking a white Mercedes-Benz suspected of involvement in a prior robbery. Investigators say the Mercedes was traveling through the area when it collided with another car near Northwest 50th Street, causing the dramatic rollover.

The driver of the second car was miraculously uninjured in the crash. However, the driver of the Mercedes, along with three other passengers, was rushed to local hospitals, including Jackson Memorial Hospital. All individuals involved are reported to be between the ages of 19 and 20.

Police confirmed the Mercedes driver is under investigation for their role in the earlier robbery. Inside the vehicle, authorities discovered a stolen firearm, which will lead to charges against the motorist. Meanwhile, the three other passengers are not facing charges at this time.

Detectives have cordoned off a significant portion of the area as investigations continue, with the wrecked Mercedes and overturned SUV towed away as evidence.

The City of Miami Police Department is leading the investigation into the crash and the alleged robbery. Authorities urge residents to remain vigilant as they piece together the events leading up to the collision.
