A 45-year-old man has died following a traffic accident that occurred 10 days earlier on East Tropicana Avenue, marking the 13th traffic-related fatality in Las Vegas for 2025.
The incident happened on Jan. 6 at approximately 7:30 p.m. near the intersection of East Tropicana Avenue and South Nellis Boulevard. According to the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department (LVMPD), the man was crossing Tropicana Avenue outside of a marked or implied crosswalk when he stepped off the center median and into the path of an eastbound 2014 Chrysler.
Emergency personnel quickly arrived at the scene and transported the injured pedestrian to a nearby hospital. The driver of the Chrysler remained at the scene and cooperated with authorities, showing no signs of impairment, according to police reports.
On Jan. 23, the Clark County Coroner’s Office informed the LVMPD that the man succumbed to his injuries on Jan. 16, ten days after the crash.
This tragic incident underscores the importance of pedestrian safety and vigilance on the road. The LVMPD Collision Investigation Section is continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash.
Community members are urged to use marked crosswalks whenever possible and drivers are reminded to stay alert, particularly in areas with heavy pedestrian traffic.
