Tragic Multi-Vehicle Crash in Southwest Las Vegas Leaves Two Hospitalized

LAS VEGAS – A devastating multi-vehicle crash in southwest Las Vegas left two people hospitalized after a driver failed to yield at an intersection, triggering a chain-reaction collision.

The shocking accident occurred on Thursday, January 30, just before 1 p.m. at the busy intersection of Harmon Avenue and Jones Boulevard. According to the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department (LVMPD), four vehicles were involved in the crash, initially reported as a five-car collision with three injured individuals. However, after further investigation, authorities confirmed that two people had been hospitalized, with four vehicles affected.

Witness accounts, surveillance footage, and evidence at the scene indicate that a 2018 Lexus and a 2010 Scion TC were traveling southbound on Jones Boulevard when tragedy struck. A 2000 Nissan Frontier, attempting a left turn under a flashing yellow arrow, failed to yield the right of way and crossed into their path. The impact was severe, sending the Nissan spiraling into a 2003 Jeep Wrangler that was waiting in the left-turn lane from eastbound Harmon Avenue to northbound Jones Boulevard.

Emergency responders rushed to the scene, where paramedics quickly transported the drivers of the Nissan and the Scion to a nearby hospital with critical to serious injuries. Meanwhile, the drivers of the Lexus and Jeep remained at the scene, reporting no injuries.

LVMPD officers conducted a preliminary investigation and found no signs of impairment among any of the drivers involved. Authorities continue to examine the circumstances surrounding the crash, urging drivers to exercise caution, especially when navigating intersections with flashing signals.

This heartbreaking accident serves as a stark reminder of the importance of road safety. The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department’s Collision Investigation Section is actively investigating the incident, and further updates will be provided as more details emerge.
