CHICAGO – A tragic shooting occurred in the Austin neighborhood of Chicago on Thursday morning, leaving one man dead and another injured near Duke Ellington Elementary School.
According to Chicago police, the incident took place around 6:00 AM on North Central Avenue in the 200-block. The two men, aged 18 and 26, were standing on the sidewalk when an unknown assailant opened fire. The younger man, struck multiple times in the body, was tragically pronounced dead at the scene. The 26-year-old was hit in the chest but managed to survive and was transported to Mt. Sinai Hospital in fair condition.
