Woman Arrested for Murder After Fatal Shooting at Riverside Park

A tragic shooting early Saturday morning at Villegas Park in Riverside led to the death of a 51-year-old woman and the arrest of another Riverside woman on suspicion of murder, according to the Riverside Police Department.

Officers responded to a call at approximately 4 a.m. in the 3000 block of Esperanza Street, located in the Casa Blanca community. Upon arrival, authorities discovered Tuesday Perez, 51, suffering from a fatal gunshot wound. Paramedics pronounced her dead at the scene.

After conducting an extensive investigation, police identified the suspect as Angela Ann Garcia, 49, also of Riverside. Deputies from the Riverside County Sheriff’s office located Garcia’s vehicle in Moreno Valley and pursued her in a slow-speed chase. The pursuit ended safely near Ramona Expressway and Perris Boulevard, where Garcia was taken into custody without further incident.

Detectives believe the shooting stemmed from an ongoing dispute between Perez and Garcia, which led them to meet at the park. The altercation reportedly escalated when Garcia allegedly shot Perez. Garcia was treated for injuries at a local hospital before being booked into the Robert Presley Detention Center on murder charges.

Investigators continue to gather information about the incident and urge anyone with additional details to contact the Riverside Police Department at (951) 353-7134.
