Rapper Lil Xan is facing serious legal trouble after allegedly assaulting a fan during a performance in Boston late last year. The California artist has been officially charged with two felony counts of assault and battery, TMZ reported on Wednesday (February 5).
One charge stems from Xan allegedly swinging his microphone at a man’s face from the stage, causing him to fall. The second charge is for reportedly kicking the man in the head after he got back up. Video footage from the November concert shows the incident unfold, with some angles suggesting the victim may have flipped Xan off before the attack.
Despite the violent altercation, the victim refused medical attention at the scene. Authorities claim that Lil Xan also assaulted two other individuals before fleeing the venue prior to the police arriving.
While the charges cast a dark shadow over his career, Lil Xan had just shared some positive news before the allegations resurfaced. Speaking with TMZ in Los Angeles on Tuesday (February 4), he revealed that he has now been sober for three years and recently signed a new record deal with 3rd Eye Recordings under Universal Music Group.
“It’s a lot of great, great stuff going on right now,” he said. “So, I’m just very blessed and very grateful.”
When asked about his legal troubles, the rapper declined to comment directly but assured fans he has learned from past mistakes. “Never again,” he told TMZ, seemingly vowing to stay out of similar situations in the future.
Lil Xan is no stranger to controversy, having made headlines in 2018 when he called 2Pac “boring” during an interview with REVOLT. The backlash nearly derailed his career, and in a 2023 interview, he admitted that his comments were made in frustration.
Despite his efforts to turn his life around, these new charges could pose a significant setback. With a court battle ahead, it remains to be seen how this latest incident will impact his future in the music industry.
