Chicago Man Brutally Murdered in Basement While Family Was Upstairs

[ad_1]

A horrific crime has shaken a Chicago family after 63-year-old George Levin was found gagged, beaten, and left for dead in the basement of his home—while his mother and sister were upstairs.

According to Illinois authorities, Levin had dinner with his family on the evening of January 26 before heading down to his basement living quarters. Just over an hour later, his sister heard a disturbing noise and went to check, only to encounter 21-year-old Geiderwuin Bello Morales, who assured her that Levin was fine and would call her later.

But when her brother failed to check in, she returned to the basement hours later—only to make a horrifying discovery. Levin was found bound with duct tape, a sock forced into his mouth, and partially exposed, showing clear signs of a brutal beating, according to police reports.

Emergency responders rushed Levin to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Following an investigation, police arrested Bello Morales and 29-year-old Jefferson Ubilla-Delgado in connection with the murder. Prosecutors revealed that the two suspects met Levin through a dating app, an unsettling detail that has left the community in shock. Both men have been charged with murder and robbery, though it remains unclear whether they have entered pleas or obtained legal representation.

Levin’s tragic death has deeply impacted those who knew him. In his obituary, friends described him as a man with a quick wit and a warm presence, whose laughter could light up any room. His family has requested donations in his memory to The Center on Halsted, an LGBTQ health and wellness organization.

This chilling case remains under investigation as the community mourns a life taken too soon.
