In a chilling case that has shocked the Boston community, a 24-year-old woman is facing murder charges after a prominent 65-year-old lawyer, Joseph Donohue, was found brutally stabbed to death on his houseboat.
Authorities discovered Donohue’s lifeless body around 11 p.m. on Sunday at a marina in Charlestown after his son requested a wellness check. When officers arrived, suspect Nora Nelson answered the door and initially provided false information, claiming Donohue was at a strip club. Suspicious of her evasive behavior, police searched the houseboat and made a horrifying discovery—Donohue’s body wrapped in sheets, duct-taped, and strapped to weights on the patio area.
Adding to the gruesome scene, officers found Donohue’s dog dead in the water nearby. Evidence suggested an attempt to clean up the crime scene, further deepening the mystery.
Nelson, who initially gave officers a fake name, continued to provide contradictory and “nonsensical” statements during questioning. Police arrested her at the scene on unrelated warrants before formally charging her with murder on Thursday. Forensic evidence linked her to Donohue’s death, prosecutors revealed in court.
During her arraignment, Nelson attempted to speak up but was drowned out in the courtroom. A judge entered a not guilty plea on her behalf and ordered her to be held without bail. She is set to return to court on March 6.
