In a heartbreaking turn of events, a missing person case in Auburndale, Florida, has become a horrific homicide investigation. Stacy Ann Powell, who had been reported missing after failing to log into work on February 4, was found brutally murdered, and her boyfriend, Andrew Alan Ridgeway, is now under arrest.
Authorities launched an investigation on February 6, visiting Powell’s home on Alleria Court, where they encountered a handyman making repairs. While speaking to him, the handyman received a phone call from Ridgeway, who claimed Powell had taken an Uber to Orlando International Airport to visit her ill father in Jamaica.
However, investigators quickly uncovered lies in Ridgeway’s story—Powell’s father actually lives in North Carolina and had already contacted police after not hearing from his daughter for two days.
Detectives then obtained a search warrant for Powell’s home, where they discovered disturbing evidence indicating she had been brutally attacked and murdered.
The investigation led police to Augusta, Georgia, where Ridgeway was caught driving Powell’s pickup truck on February 7. He has now been charged with homicide and providing false information to law enforcement.
This shocking case has left the Auburndale community in mourning, as friends and family struggle to process the tragic loss of Powell. Authorities are continuing their investigation as Ridgeway awaits extradition to Florida to face justice.
