Concerns about the potential effects on the region are raised by the rising hostilities between China and the US over Taiwan.
China Warns US Over Support for Taiwan
According to the Miami Herald, China strongly expressed its support for Taiwan in a statement to the United States last Tuesday. Taiwanese soldiers reportedly took part in American military training exercises in Michigan last month, according to an opinion piece published in the official newspaper of China, Global Times. According to the article, because China has not ruled out using force, the US government and Taiwanese authorities are in a perilous position. It further claims that the US is arming Taiwan and pressing it to oppose reunification, raising tensions and perhaps igniting a conflict between the US and China.
Taiwan is regarded as Chinese territory, yet despite this, the US backs the “One China” initiative and still has an unofficial relationship with Taiwan. China is upset because the US gave Taiwan military hardware worth $80 million last month. Another opinion post expressing China’s strong opposition and disapproval was published in response by the Global Times.
China cautions Taiwan not to undervalue the possible repercussions of this scenario by stressing that its response to the US provocation towards Taiwan will go beyond simple words.

China Claims that the US is Breaking Agreements by Arming Taiwan
The decision to arm Taiwan through the Foreign Military Financing program contravenes the three China-US agreements as well as the one-China principle, according to Wang Wenbin, a spokesperson for the Chinese Foreign Ministry. China regards this as a betrayal of collaboration and trust. Taiwan’s Ministry of Defense, however, expressed gratitude for the enhanced military assistance given in July and appreciated the US commitment to Taiwan’s security.
The National Security Council‘s spokesperson, John Kirby, highlighted the significance of the United States taking its duties to Taiwan seriously. He also emphasized the necessity for Taiwan to improve its capacity for self-defense. The delicate and potentially combustible nature of the current tensions between China and the US over Taiwan is highlighted by this comment. Both nations are weighing their own interests, and the outcome might have a big impact on Taiwan and the rest of the region.
